Tithe

Tithe is giving 1/10th of all your earnings, cattle, crops etc to the temple of the Lord. Tithe was established by the Living God through Mosses. The Lord said in Leviticus 27:30 "And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S: it is holy unto the LORD."
The first man to present 1/10 of his gain was Abraham we find this in Bible Genesis 14:18-20(NIV) "Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand." Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything."

        Why did God initiate tithe?
Tithe was initiated by the Lord for the following reasons
        1. To provide for the priests, meet the maintenance of the temple of God, provide for the needy etc.
        2. Tithing was introduced so that people will learn to fear the Lord. We find the Lord say this in Deuteronomy 14:23 (KJV) "And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always."
        3. The Living God also to test to see how much we Love Him, Loving the Lord is to keep His commands i.e. to obey the Lord.
We find in Bible Malachi 3:8-12 "I ask you, is it right for a person to cheat God? Of course not, yet you are cheating me. 'How?' you ask. In the matter of tithes and offerings. A curse is on all of you because the whole nation is cheating me. Bring the full amount of your tithes to the Temple, so that there will be plenty of food there. Put me to the test and you will see that I will open the windows of heaven and pour out on you in abundance all kinds of good things. I will not let insects destroy your crops, and your grapevines will be loaded with grapes. Then the people of all nations will call you happy, because your land will be a good place to live in."   Malachi 3:8-12

Bible bases answers to questions on tithing
        1. Should we pay tithe?
Yes, every believer must pay tithe. Malachi 3:8-12

        2. Where should I pay all my tithe?
Tithe should be given to the temple (Church) only. Malachi 3:8-12

        3. My tithe amount is more so can I split my tithe amount to Church and for offerings, mission needs, poor, charity etc.?
No, you should not divide your tithe amount it should be given in full to the Church because the Lord has instructed us in Malachi 3:8-12 "... Bring the full amount of your tithes to the Temple, so that there will be plenty of food there." So we are not supposed to divide our tithe amount, just offer it in full to the Church.

        4. The Church these days don't provide food these days, should I still tithe to Church?
Yes, it's our duty to obey the Lord and give our tithe to the Church. Then it becomes the duty of the Priest or the management of the Church to use the tithe money properly. Well the Lord is the judge let each one of us do our part right fearing the Lord.

        5. What do I get from tithing?
The Lord says in Malachi 3:8-12 "... Put me to the test and you will see that I will open the windows of heaven and pour out on you in abundance all kinds of good things. I will not let insects destroy your crops, and your grapevines will be loaded with grapes. Then the people of all nations will call you happy, because your land will be a good place to live in."

        6. I have some urgent financial needs can I add up this month's tithe and pay it next month - or can I rotate my tithe?
No, tithe is the Lord's and we cannot use it in any way Leviticus 27:30. The Lord also says in Bible Exodus 22:29 "Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me."(KJV)
So let's give to the Lord what belongs to Him for it's the Lord who provides us health and resources to work and earn. For your needs ask the Lord, He will make a way for you.

        7. I am a priest working in the house of the Lord for the Lord should I also pay tithe?
Yes the Lord says in Numbers 18:26 (KJV) "Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe."
The Bible also says so in Nehemiah 10:38 "And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house."

        8. As a priest if I pay my tithe into the Church the money comes back so again I have to pay the tithe for my tithe is this ok?
The Lord asked the Levites to pay their tithe's to Aaron the first priest ordained through Moses. We find this in Numbers 18:28(KJV) Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the LORD of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the LORD'S heave offering to Aaron the priest.
So the tithe passes on to the parent Church or to the senior pastor. However he will also have to pay his tithe as per the word of God and use the rest for his & family needs.

        9. How should a priest use the tithe collected?
The Lord says in Numbers 18:24 (KJV) "But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance."

10 I live in a country where there is no Church then how to pay my tithe?
The Lord tells if your tithe is cattle or food item then it has to be eaten with your family members, priest and your servants only, joyfully praising the Lord. We find this in Deuteronomy 12:18-21 (KJV) "But thou must eat them before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God in all that thou puttest thine hands unto.
Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest upon the earth.
When the LORD thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul longeth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.
If the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd and of thy flock, which the LORD hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates whatsoever thy soul lusteth after."
If your tithe or vow are things then you have to carry it to the place though it is far off and present it in the temple there. We find this in Deuteronomy 12:26 (KJV) "Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt take, and go unto the place which the LORD shall choose:"
So these days if you are working in a country where there is no Church and your tithe is money then you could use proper money transfer method and send the money to your home Church or if you are about to go home soon or to travel to a place where there is a Church then you could carry your money and present it the Church there.

        11. what if I don't pay my tithe?
The Lord says in Malachi 3:8-12 that it's cheating the Lord and it's a curse. So dear friend don't see the pastor or the Church just obey the Lord. Give your tithe in a Church.

Give the best to the Lord and may the Lord bless you with His best.
